Hazardous Materials (HAZWOPER) Operations – In Person

This 24-hour course is designed to train the student in the skills required for response to hazardous materials incidents. Skills for this program of instruction are drawn out of the most current edition of NFPA 1072 and 472, as well as OSHA  29 CFR 1910.120.  Students will receive instruction on the fundamentals of hazardous materials identification, isolation, and response in both classroom and practical settings, including scenario-based instruction.

Skills taught include:
• Detecting the presence of hazardous materials
• Surveying & assessment of hazardous materials incidents
• Initiating protective actions
• Predicting the behavior of hazardous materials
• Planning and implementing a planned response
• PPE selection and use
• Basic Decontamination Principles
• Basic defensive product control
